Gifford has been a patron of numerous groups that help children including Childhelp, the Association to Benefit Children and Cassidy's Place. Two houses named for her two children were called Cassidy's Place and Cody House. Marymount University awarded her honorary degrees for the work that she performed in the field of labor relations.
